It has been three days since I got my Trimui Smart Pro. This is my first handheld and only the second console I’ve owned since having a PS2 in my teenage years. The Trimui can run ports of GTA: Vice City, Max Payne 1, Doom 3, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein, along with ports of Zelda games and several fan-made titles.
Putting PortMaster games aside, the handheld can run around 90% of the PSP library at 1x PSP resolution and around 75% at 2x PSP resolution. Of course, some finicking is required to achieve these results, but overall the performance is solid and genuinely fun to play.
Unlike many reviews, I haven’t had any issues with the D-pad. For the most part, it works really well for fighting games and Metroidvania titles, which is good because the two analog sticks are more like nubs than true analog sticks. They feel strange at first but are serviceable once you get used to them. Once the game gets going, you’re too engrossed to notice that you aren’t playing on a native NDS or PSP.
Speaking of NDS, most games run well, with the right analog stick acting as a stylus. That said, I wouldn’t recommend playing touchscreen-heavy games like Nintendogs. However, the Pokémon and Mario lineups work great. PS1 games also run very well, and the screen size is perfect for low-resolution classics like Silent Hill and Resident Evil 2.
Dreamcast games perform impressively too. Sword of the Berserk runs at full speed with little to no FPS drops. REZ had some issues, but it’s notoriously difficult to emulate on most systems. As for N64, performance is a mixed bag, it’s essentially a coin toss - Conker’s Bad Fur Day had noticeable frame drops.
One downside of the console is the shoulder buttons and triggers. While they feel good, they lack sufficient tactile feedback and can feel awkward at times—especially during God of War QTEs and similar moments. That said, it’s something I’m sure I’ll get used to with more playtime.
If you’re primarily looking to play GBA and SNES titles, classic JRPGs, and platformers, I’d recommend the Miyoo Mini Plus or the Trimui Brick instead. However, if you want strong performance for later-generation consoles like PS1, Dreamcast, PSP, and NDS, then you should absolutely go for the Trimui Smart Pro.
Elektroniks India delivered my order to Bangalore within five days, and Delhivery was reliable as well. The console also benefits from a very active community, and I can’t say enough good things about CrossMix OS. It offers built-in PortMaster installation and game scraping (though I’ve had some trouble scraping over Wi-Fi, yes, the console does have Wi-Fi).
Overall, I’d give this console a generous 9/10. The only reason it’s not a 10 is that my hands start to feel cramped after 2–3 hours of play. But there’s an easy solution to that: do something else after two hours of gaming, you nerd.
Received the TRIMUI BRICK in working condition but the SD card was missing. Not a big issue since I can download my own ROMS.
Plays everything upto PS1 but also runs not all but many dreamcast, N64 and PSP games. Supports Portmaster too! This is my go-to device for PSP JRPGs.
Best for budget gamers ♥️ love it
